Decatur, AL – June 10, 2026 – The Flint City Volunteer Fire Department is excited to announce the groundbreaking of a new fire station that will better serve the Flint community for years to come.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held on June 8, 2026, at the site of the department’s future station, located next to the current fire station at 114 Oxmore Flint Road. The new facility will be approximately 9,600 square feet and will include five apparatus bays, providing additional space for emergency vehicles, equipment, training, and department operations.

In addition to supporting emergency services, the new station will include a community meeting and event space that will be available for public rental. The department hopes this space will provide a place for local organizations, families, and community groups to gather and hold events, further strengthening Flint’s sense of community.

This project represents years of planning and the continued support of our community. As Flint continues to grow, the new station will help ensure that our volunteers have the space and resources needed to continue providing quality emergency services to the citizens we serve.

We also want to thank the Morgan County Commission, the Morgan County Association of Volunteer Fire Departments, and the many community members who have supported our department over the years.

The Flint City Volunteer Fire Department has always been built on community support, and this new station would not be possible without it. We are grateful for everyone who has played a role in helping us reach this milestone.
